Alexis Waiss is a student at Arizona State University pursuing a journalism and mass communications degree at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, along with a minor in social welfare.

Alexis is currently an intern for the Arizona Republic, president of AAJA at ASU, and managing editor of her university's student newspaper, The State Press. She wrote for the paper's politics desk for a year before she was promoted to assignment editor and senior reporter at the end of 2022. Alexis has also covered Capitol Hill for Arizona PBS affiliate, Cronkite News, and the 2023 Arizona state election for fact-checking site, Politifact. She is a 2023 WHCA scholar and a 2022 Voices fellow for the Asian American Journalists Association.

Alexis aspires to continue reporting on how policy and elected officials have an impact on marginalized communities. In addition, Alexis enjoys shedding light on unique, provocative angles through feature writing and investigative reporting. As a journalist, Alexis' goal is to give a voice to underrepresented communities, grow her own voice, and make a mark on the world with the stories she shares.

Other than a writer, Alexis is a diligent student, bookworm, pun enthusiast, foodie, and a friend for anyone who needs one. She enjoys giving pep talks, eating carbs, listening to music, taking care of animals, watching superhero movies and binging tv shows.
